In this month’s Employee Spotlight we talk to Daniel Monroe about life in Delegate Sales, career development and being a ‘knowledge sponge’ !
When did your IQPC career begin?
I started at IQPC in September 2013
What is your current role and responsibilities?
I am currently a Senior Delegate Sales Executive in the IQPC Campaign Team. My responsibilities include tracking campaign progress and market mapping. I manage the enquiries that are made about our events and develop relationships with prospective customers, selling excellent portfolio events to key people within the world’s leading businesses.
What initially attracted you to join the conference industry?
I did a degree in Music Events Management and enjoyed creating the music conferences that we held more then the live events.
And why IQPC?
As a leader in the conference business it meant I got to work with the best products.
What do you enjoy about IQPC life
I really enjoy the culture in IQPC. My team is a lot of fun and we help each other focus to get the best results. Plus the monthly Nandos trips help keep us fuelled.
How has your career developed since you started with us?
I first made senior sales in January 2014 and since then have mentored new starters helping them to hit the ground running.
What lessons have you learnt during your time here?
That the world is a big place full of interesting topics and people. I really enjoy speaking to thought leaders and have gained so much knowledge about different industries.
What do you think is the key to success working in Sales?
Having a keen ear is very important. Being able to pick up on signals and using it effectively is key.
I would also say you would need to be a knowledge sponge. There is a lot of information that you can learn and use effectively to help you further your career.
What advice would you give a new starter in the business?
Learn Learn Learn. Our events are very detailed and comprehensive. If you want to succeed, know your events inside out and you will see the results.
