Alex recently joined our Exchange business in London following his attendance at one of our Graduate Assessment Days a few months ago. Making the giant leap straight out of University and straight in to sponsorship sales on some of our biggest events, I was eager to catch up with him to see if we’d met his expectations!

When you left University, what made you choose IQPC?

Upon leaving university, I was drawn to IQPC because I was seeking an opportunity for a sales role within a b2b environment. IQPC stood out to me because they are a market leader in b2b events, having run a wide portfolio of conferences and exchanges globally. This excited me because I knew that working for them would not only give me a great name on my CV, but an opportunity to flourish in an environment where there are many opportunities to learn and develop.

How would you describe your experience with IQPC so far?

It’s safe to say that my experience so far has been 100% positive. My manager has been excellent so far in terms of integrating me into the business and educating me about the role. I am part of a very close knit team, who have welcomed me and took me under their wing.

Is the role what you expected?

Before I joined IQPC I did a lot of research on the company and role (something I would recommend to all prospect applicants), so yes, the role is what I expected it to be. What has also helped is that my manager really gave me a good idea of what the role entails from a day to day basis before I started, so this helped me prepare for what was to come.

How much training have you actually received?

The quality and amount of training I have received has exceeded my expectations. I knew I would receive training on the job, but my manager has really gone above and beyond, spending a lot of time with me to ensure I am able to sell to the best of my ability. It’s also worth noting that training never really stops. People that have been here for years still have training, as there is always room for improvement.

What’s been the hardest thing so far?

The hardest thing so far has been being able to pick yourself back up after a deal falls through or you face rejection. Despite this, it is part of a sales job and reacting to it positively and working hard to resolve it and improve is the only thing you can do!

What do you like best about the sponsorship sales role?

The best aspect of the sponsorship sales role is the ability to control your own earnings. I have the opportunity to earn a very good wage, if I am prepared to put the hard work in. I like this because you know that if you produce good results you will be rewarded handsomely.

How would you describe IQPC in 3 words?
